Moreover most individual shredders are manufactured in China and shipped with the usual primary and secondary packaging. One of the truck based units was manufactured in Portland, Oregon the other in Windsor, Ontario.

Substitute desk side trash cans for suite units

Rationale: The life cycle cost for every can exceeds $1800…based on re-lining and tipping 200 times each year (times 25 years), using between 2.3 and 8 pounds of liners and $46 of labor yearly.

Agree to a 2 degree lower set point during heating months and 2 degree higher during cooling months

Each person within the suite commits to determining his/her transportation footprint in fuel used per week, the suite collectively will seek ways to reduce that footprint using car pooling, alternative transportation, public transportation, or working from home (department head approval required) and record use and changes throughout the year

Rationale: Reduction of waste from disposable cups and plastic water bottles.

Use of telephone conferencing whenever appropriate.

Rationale: Reduction of travel to and from campus, therefore reducing emissions and the carbon footprint.
