Auditions for Split Rock Explosion Play
Monday, February 26th from 11:15 a.m. -12:30 p.m.
Be part of a major community event and something
historic! The Onondaga Historical Association (OHA) will be producing the play
"Split Rock: Stories from the 1918 Explosion," which was written by
students in the fall OCC Honors Seminar on the Split Rock Explosion.
The play will be presented during College Hour and at 7
p.m. on May 2 in Storer Auditorium. This will be a major community event in the
lead-up to the 100th anniversary of the explosion, July 2, 2018. It will very
likely receive good media coverage throughout Central New York.
Scott Peal, the OHA education coordinator and the
director of the play, will be on campus on Monday, February 26, to audition
prospective actors. At least five roles will be filled, if possible, by OCC
students. These include:

- Ernest, an American munitions plant worker

have a “special talent” that might be utilized in the show, such as singing,
playing the guitar, as there will be brief musical sections.
